My STORY
2009 - 2015
I was born and raised outside of Salt Lake City, Utah and in 2009 I graduated from Northridge High School to begin a long journey toward getting my Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Acting from The University of Minnesota Duluth. While I was a student in the theater department there, I taught myself the Adobe Creative Suite in an effort to better market and increase attendance to the plays and musicals we were performing in to some serious success.
During my senior year at UMD, I was 1 of 20 actors chosen from around the country to live in and work for Actors Theater of Louisville in - you guessed it - Louisville, Kentucky for 9 months as an Acting Apprentice. These 9 months proved to be a true intensive in creative collaboration and working closely in diverse groups and did well to prepare me for working with large creative teams. After completing this program I moved to New York City, where I was signed with a competitive talent agency and began performing in theaters and on television sets.
From 2016 until February of 2020, I was certain that the life of auditioning and New York City subway rides was it for me. Then, while rehearsing a play in Florida, the pandemic took the world by storm. While in quarantine with my now partner, I began transitioning away from live performance by performing standup comedy in corporate Zoom meetings and events that included trivia games to virtual escape rooms as an Employee Engagement Event Facilitator with teambuilding.com.
Experiencing success as an event facilitator and recognizing holes in teambuilding.com's programming, I began to create different ideas for original employee engagement events that could be held virtually or in-person. I pitched one of these ideas - a spoof of CBS's Big Brother - to the company TeamBonding. After 5 weeks of work with the oversight of the company's Head of Program Development we created the event Big Inc. which has been sold and carried out for clients as large as Deloitte.
Working as a Program Designer with TeamBonding has helped me transform myself from design hobbyist and freelancer into potential career designer with the ability to create alongside industry leaders. And so - after a deep dive into potential boot camps for designers who want to work with innovators for the betterment of mankind - I found Designlab. A DEI Scholarship and six months of arduous coursework later, I graduated with a UX/UI Designer Certification and relationships with 3 incredible mentors plus so many talented colleagues.
